Bringing Alaskans Together

I came to visit Alaska in 1975 with a friend who was a student at UAF, and I immediately fell in love with the people and landscape of Alaska. After 33 years of residency here, I remain in love and intrigued by Alaska and Alaskans. Fairbanks offers so many incredible opportunities to its residents, and my favorite pastime is working to make our town an even better place to live. Fairbanksans are noted for pulling together to accomplish great deeds, and I enjoy nothing more than being part of the team.

I believe elected officials are public servants, and as such should work for the good of the entire community and not simply cater to special-interest groups. Decisions need to be based on the long-term benefits to the community and not on the immediate gain for an influential few.

Alaska will be experiencing large budget surpluses for the near term. Legislators must make hard decisions and invest this money wisely in projects and infrastructure with long-term returns. The old habit of short-sighted pork funding and special-interest pandering must stop. Much is at stake, and Alaskans deserve to have these funds invested in our future to maintain low taxes and provide high quality of life for generations to come. I have a long history of bringing people together to find efficient, cost-effective, creative solutions to difficult problems, and I'm excited about the opportunity to work for you in Juneau.

There's details here about events, and some more about my thoughts and views about the issues facing Alaska and the Interior. I'm meeting with many of you in our community to talk about your concerns and ideas, and please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Our campaign in this critical election needs your support and energy. Please consider making a donation, even a small one, to help us get the message out: It's time to put the interests of Alaskans first.

Take care,
Karl Kassel
